Hibou
The French ‘Hibou’ Hallmark (Owl in French) was introduced in 1893 as an import stamp for gold products that were not made in France. It usually marks 750 gold and was predominantly used on watches and jewellery. We often see this hallmark stamped twice right in the middle of the caseback, just like this was in the case of the gorgeous Patek 3548 with an incredibly rare ‘Vermeer’ brown dial.

Leader of the Romanticism, Francesco Hayez was born in Venice in 1791, lived an extraordinary life in pursuit of finding the purest forms to express his artistic vision and later died in Milan in 1882 having left humanity with some of the most romantically relevant paintings ever made.
He was particularly fond of painting women especially in his older stage of life. A lot of his attention went into their gaze, which often tells a million stories; the eyes never lie.
Another key aspect to interpreting the hidden messages in his works is through the use of jewellery. From golden bands to highlight the importance of a figure to wooden crosses to symbolize the paganism of it all, every detail matters.

The other piece is called ‘Puro’ and was made by me based off an ancient Cambodian sun 🌞flower design from the Angkor dynasty. Watch is Avocado Watch's Patek Philippe 3800 J with gorgeous blue dial.
